Reserved Channel Sewer Separation,
South Boston, Massachusetts
Client: Boston Water and Sewer Commission
A clean harbor, shorefront, and several beaches – this has been the vision of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission since the early 1990’s when the Commission began improving the City’s infrastructure which dates back to the 1800s. The goal of this project is to continue to improve water quality in Boston Harbor by reducing the frequency and volume of combined sewer overflows (CSOs) discharging into the Reserved Channel. Tetra Tech Rizzo was selected by the Commission to manage the combined sewer system separation, which is broken down into three phases: preliminary, conceptual, and final design. A critical goal is to design the project to minimize the impact on those who live and work in the area.
